Storytelling Fairy Tale Writing

Storytelling Fairy Tale Writing

One day, feeling empty, I came across a workshop called ‘Writing a Storytelling Fairy Tale About Myself.’ As I participated and wrote, the question ‘What’s your dream?’ arose within me. How do I want to live? Being the eldest child, losing my sibling to heaven, marrying a deaf person, and having a CODA family, I became curious about myself. With these reflections, I began to write “Jisu.”

There’s a genre of novel called ‘I-novel.’ It once gained popularity as a method of modern Japanese novel writing. It involves objectifying oneself and unfolding the story. This technique is the most realistic, detailed, and dense. It might be good to write a fairy tale with yourself as the protagonist from an omniscient point of view.
