15 Second Rule

The ’15 Second Rule’ for Managing Emotions: Emotions are unpredictable. One moment they are black, and the next, they turn blue. According to psychology, there’s a ’15-second rule.’ It takes 15 seconds for an emotion to peak. When anger rises, it takes 3 seconds to diverge, and the emotion reaches its peak in 15 seconds. After that, the emotion changes. ‘Oh, dear! The lifespan of an emotion is only 15 seconds.’

15 seconds. It’s a short time. But it’s a long time for human emotions to reach their peak. That brief yet long moment can determine a person’s fate. If the individual is in a leadership position, it can even alter the nation’s history and fortune. Before anger reaches its peak, one must learn to pause. Similarly, joy shouldn’t be overwhelming. It’s best to stop around the 14th second.
