Every human being

Every human being, explicitly or implicitly, seeks an ultimate “object of devotion.” This is a fundamental value that gives meaning and purpose to our lives. It can be a god, love, social justice, a country, a political party, a social organization, money, fame, pleasure, sports, or even gambling. Whatever becomes the focus of our ultimate concern and devotion takes on a “religious” significance.

Everyone needs an object of love and devotion. It could be parents, children, spouses, mentors, celebrities, or even a deity. People are willing to give everything, even their lives, for this object. It requires emptying oneself, being able to burn with passion, and diving in fully. Loving and being devoted is not about gaining something in return. It’s about embracing pain, wounds, and sacrifices and finding peace and joy within it. Through the object of devotion, we grow and evolve.
