“Gilgamesh, do not rely solely on your strength.”

“Gilgamesh, do not rely solely on your strength.” They took each other’s hands and hurried to the blacksmith’s workshop. There, the blacksmiths gathered and discussed. They crafted splendid battle axes, each weighing three talents. “Gilgamesh, do not rely solely on your strength, Look far ahead, aim for certain strikes! Those who lead protect their companions, And those who know the way protect their friends.”

“The Epic of Gilgamesh” is the oldest epic narrative, inscribed on clay tablets. Although it originates from ancient Sumerians and addresses fundamental human questions about life, death, love, and parting, its wisdom still applies today. It tells us not to rely on weapons or brute strength in life’s battles, but to find our path. The one who knows the way will protect their friends, and by doing so, we find the way to life, happiness, and hope, rather than death, misery, and despair.
