Procedural Memory The aspect of our lives that has the greatest influence is what’s known as procedural memory. This is where all the behaviors we learned unconsciously at an early age are stored. We react to current events based on countless memories already stored in our minds, without realizing we’re responding to memories rather than the present.
Memories accumulated over time create a timeline. The experiences from childhood and youth are stored in the well of the unconscious and can suddenly surface to influence our lives today. It’s essential to develop inner strength to ensure that old procedural memories, which are of no use and best forgotten, don’t control our present selves.
