Because Life Is Gloomy
Renoir believed that because life was gloomy, his paintings needed to be bright. No one is unhappy or sad in his works. They are beautiful and happy. Everyone is joyful in their own place. Renoir dreamed of such a world and wanted to paint it on his canvas.
Because he was depressed, Renoir painted bright pictures.** I, too, started Morning Letters and Deep Mountain Forest Springs because I had dreams and hopes in the face of despair. What do we paint on the canvas of our lives? I hope more people can turn gloom into brightness and despair into hope.
