Duncan’s

Duncan’s revolutionary act of discarding pointe shoes and tutus began with curiosity and grew into excitement and innovation. In Europe, she blossomed as an artist. Rejecting ballet fundamentals, techniques, and artificial movements, she expressed her own thoughts and emotions freely through music as the barefoot Isadora. She spread her unique, free dance around the world, especially in Germany, becoming the pioneer of a new genre known as modern dance.

With her single, free-spirited barefoot dance, Isadora Duncan shook the world. She is rightly called a ‘free spirit’ and ‘the founder of modern dance.’ Unfortunately, her untimely death overshadows this. Her long scarf, which she considered an extension of herself, tragically caught in a car wheel, leading to her asphyxiation. Even this misfortune added to her legendary status, leaving her as a mythical figure who now dances in spirit.
