“I’ll Mentor This Child”
Chusa was a prodigy known for his remarkable memory and early literacy. According to his epitaph, at six years old, Chusa’s New Year’s scroll was displayed on the gate. Renowned scholar Park Je-ga of the Northern Learning School passed by and, impressed by the writing, approached Chusa’s father. He said, “This child has the potential to excel in scholarship and art. I’ll mentor him to achieve greatness.” In reality, Park Je-ga became Chusa’s teacher.
Every prodigy needs a good teacher or mentor to truly shine.** Natural talent and ability are essential, but who you meet is even more important. Recognizing a child’s talent early and deciding to nurture it—that person is a true mentor.
mentor, talent, greatness
