I’m Thirsty, Give Me Water

I’m Thirsty, Give Me Water

Recently, in Gyeongsan, a satellite city of Daegu, a 15-year-old boy committed suicide by jumping from the roof of an apartment building after being bullied. His note was made public. He wrote it just before jumping, mentioning the bullying and apologizing to his family. His final words were, “I’m thirsty. Give me water.”

Every tragedy has its warning signs.** A small but desperate cry for help. For the bullied boy, his plea of “I’m thirsty” was a warning sign of the impending tragedy. Not missing these small yet desperate cries for help—that is true love and communication. The best thing is to build one’s inner strength and become stronger.
