Moral Distress
Moral distress is like an ecosystem reflecting the harmful aspects of extreme states, such as pathological altruism, empathetic stress, neglect, and burnout. We experience moral distress when we see classism, racism, and moral indifference up close in our society.
Moral distress is a kind of societal collective illness. It may appear quiet and unnoticeable on the surface. However, the moral apathy of a few can spread like toxic gas, filling the environment with irrationality, prejudice, hatred, and vengefulness, ultimately collapsing the ecosystem of a humane life. Only by each person finding their humanity can we hope to overcome this moral collective illness.
