“Human” or “Monster”?
Reflection is the exercise of the soul. To convey urgency, I sometimes use powerful terms like “monster.” Without reflection, the heart hardens. And when the heart hardens, a person ceases to be human and becomes a “monster.” This is particularly concerning for those with significant influence, such as religious figures, who might neglect the inner discipline of reflection. Consequently, they can become trapped within their own rigid beliefs.
There are instances when it’s hard to distinguish between a “human” and a “monster.” Some people may appear fine on the outside, but their actions and words reveal a monstrous nature. Lies multiply, one deception leading to ten more. The boundary between humanity and monstrosity lies in reflection. When reflection occurs at the right moment, one can return to their humanity. Without it, they transform into something monstrous, teetering on the edge of a precipice.
