Study hard.
It’s the phrase medical students hear most often from their professors. But the reason for working diligently isn’t just to build a foundation of medical knowledge. A doctor is someone entrusted with a license to operate on another person’s body. The enormous workload in medical school and the attitude toward studying are directly tied to the qualities that shape a competent physician. Without consistent, dedicated study, one cannot properly care for patients.
Study hard.
We’ve all heard it so many times it almost echoes in our ears. Yet one truth remains: there is a right time to study. Miss that window, and regret can last a lifetime. If you’re going to do it, give it everything you’ve got. And studying isn’t only about books. You must study people—learning through love, conflict, and compassion. You must study the world—traveling, experiencing, and expanding your horizons. Study with all your heart.
