The Rusted Bicycle
One of the loneliest sights in the world
is a rusted bicycle left out in the open.
But before it was abandoned,
it must’ve shined with promise.
Its tires were probably full of air, ready to go.
It didn’t rust and then get thrown away.
It rusted because it was thrown away.
Neglect came first—then the wear, then the rust.
And it’s not just bicycles.
People are the same.
I ask myself:
Have I left someone behind without even calling their name?
If there’s someone like that in your life,
maybe today’s the day to check in.
Before they rust any further.
neglect, loneliness, care
