Sleep Efficiency

Sleep Efficiency

As we age, our sleep often becomes fragmented.
This leads to a drop in what’s called sleep efficiency—
the percentage of time spent actually sleeping
while lying in bed.
If you’re in bed for eight hours and sleep the whole time,
your sleep efficiency is 100%.
But if you only sleep for four of those hours,
your sleep efficiency drops to 50%.
It’s eye-opening to realize that sleep has its own kind of efficiency.
No matter how long you stay in bed,
if your sleep is broken or restless,
it doesn’t do much good.
And no one knows your sleep quality better than you do.
Maybe today’s the day to take a closer look
at your daily habits and aim for 100% sleep efficiency.
It could be the shortcut to better health.
