Lying on the grass

Lying on the grass

When you lie down on a grassy field,
you feel softness, warmth, and a gentle bounce—
as if something deep in the soil is quietly stirring.
The earth, holding seeds beneath the surface,
feels alive and comforting.
And when you imagine your body melting into that soil,
even death doesn’t seem frightening.
The late author Park Wan-suh once wrote,
“The road not taken is more beautiful.”
How peaceful must it be
to say that even death loses its grip?
It’s a feeling you can’t understand until you’ve tried it.
But it’s not hard.
Anyone can do it.
Only those who’ve laid their back on the grass
know the tender, warm, springy sensation
that makes life feel worth living.
