Filling the Universe
The philosopher and statesman
Muriel Rukeyser once said,
“The universe is made of stories, not atoms.”
Each person carries a universe within them—
filled with yesterday, today, and the moments in between.
When we pause and reflect on those days,
we realize this universe is woven entirely from stories.
In every neighborhood, every nation,
countless personal universes intertwine,
threading together the fabric of history and legend.
And someday,
our stories may become a chapter in history,
a page in someone’s legend.
So I continue to fill my universe
with the stories we live.
