Words That Can Save a Life

Words That Can Save a Life

Doctors should never give up on their patients.
Even when the prognosis is grim, saying something like “you only have a few months left” can take away the last bit of hope.
No matter how serious the condition, it’s the doctor’s role to ease both physical and emotional pain, and to help the patient hold on to hope until the very end.
I believe a single word from a doctor can decide whether a patient lives or dies.

That’s true.
One sentence from a doctor can either save a life or break it.
To a critically ill patient, a doctor can feel like a divine presence.
But it’s not just doctors.
If a word I speak can turn someone’s fear and despair into hope,
then in that moment, I too am a healer.
