Put Down Your Fork Before You’re Full
There was another lesson elders often shared at the dinner table: “Stop eating before you’re completely full.”
How many children truly followed that advice? And why did adults repeat it so tirelessly?
In everyday life, we carry sayings like this: “If you overeat, trouble is almost certain. If you eat lightly, you’ll rarely regret it.”
The difference between taking one bite less and one bite more can be enormous. In times of scarcity, being full was the ultimate goal. But today, things have changed. Becoming too accustomed to fullness, or even indulging in it, eventually leads to problems.
Sometimes, setting aside a bite before you even begin your meal can be a wise choice.
