Walking in Stillness
Walk quietly.
Walk slowly.
With each step, notice your breath—
the inhale and the exhale.
When you slow down,
even the most familiar path reveals things
you’ve never noticed before.
You begin to realize that walking with intention
helps you find your balance.
You feel the weight shifting to your big toe,
sense whether your body leans left or right,
and notice if you’re steady or swaying.
Even just walking slowly
can awaken so much within you.
On a recent healing walk along a pilgrimage trail,
I felt this deeply.
There’s a saying: “Lie down and you fade, walk and you thrive.”
Walking brings life. Walking brings healing.
I write my morning reflections while walking in silence,
and I meditate as I move slowly.
It’s how I find balance in life.
