The Strength to Endure
Passive acceptance is the ability to endure uncertainty without rushing to conclusions or trying to reason everything out. It means staying with discomfort instead of avoiding it. Life and society are full of situations we simply can’t control, no matter how hard we try. That’s why this quiet strength matters so much. Once I understood this, everything—from how I live my life to my work as a psychiatrist and my creative process as a writer—became more manageable. I discovered what people call the strength to endure.
The one who endures, wins.
The one who holds on to the end, survives.
We need more than passive acceptance. We need active patience, active resilience, and active waiting.
Remember the boys trapped in the cave in Thailand?
It was their ability to endure that saved them.
Even at life’s dead ends, we must hold on to hope and wait with courage.
That’s how we make it through.
