Still My Child

Still My Child

The relationship between parent and child is one of intense love and pain. When a child fails to live up to expectations, the parent carries that wound deep in their heart. That’s why they sometimes push too hard. If the child struggles, it’s because they’re struggling. If they succeed, it’s because they’re succeeding. Either way, the parent feels the need to hold them close, to guide them, to be respected without question. Because still, still… they are my child.

Yes, they are my child. But soon, they will leave my arms. Before long, they must learn to soar on their own. That’s why we must teach them well while they are still ours—so they can fly freely through the open sky, and one day embrace the world with strength and grace.
