When the Mountain Is at Its Most Beautiful

When the Mountain Is at Its Most Beautiful

How could I live without seeing that mountain?

From where I sit, if I turn my head just slightly to the right, Bukhansan unfolds in full view—so stunning that I still can’t believe I get to see it every single day.

To see the mountain is to see the sky. The mountain lifts the sky higher, makes it clearer. On sunny days, it feels close enough to touch. On cloudy days, it disappears completely.

At dawn, the deep blue sky stretches wide. And in winter, the mountain is at its most breathtaking. Snow-covered peaks like Munsu and Bohyeon look like scenes from a postcard—foreign, magical.

Even the winter view of a snowy spring-fed pond is too beautiful to keep to myself.

But spring is even more stunning. It begins with yellow ginger blossoms and soon bursts into a riot of colors.

Summer is lush and green. Autumn dazzles with its brilliance.

To live each day with a mountain that changes color with the seasons—what a gift.

And I’d love to share it.

With you.
