Comfort That Lifts
Raising shoulders that have fallen, lifting heads that have bowed, these are simple acts anyone can do with a warm hand. In English, it is simply called up.
It feels refreshing to realize that the word comfort can also mean lifting someone upward. Though it is a word we use often, it suddenly feels new. Looking up helps us notice what we had missed around us, and reaching up with our hands allows us to gently comfort others. Starting today, I want to practice this kind of comfort—with eyes that lift and hands that soothe.
