Gains and Losses, Light and Darkness

Gains and Losses, Light and Darkness *We feel joy when we gain something and sorrow when we lose something. However, gains and losses are two sides of the same coin. For example, everyone must go through childhood to grow into youth. This can be seen as gaining youth from childhood, but on the other hand, it means losing childhood to become a healthy adult.

From Yi Ilya’s ‘The Philosophy of the Last Words’ –

Every moment, we lose cells to gain new ones. A seed must shed its shell to sprout, and a caterpillar must shed its cocoon to become a butterfly. A baby must leave the womb to come into the world. This is the way of the world. Gains and losses, light and darkness always coexist.
