I discover that I am doubting myself. And if I doubt that I am doubting,

Descartes once said,
“If I try to doubt the existence of my soul,
I discover that I am doubting myself.
And if I doubt that I am doubting,
then I am indeed doubting.”
Therefore, the fact that I am doubting
cannot itself be doubted.

To truly grow, we need training
that helps us see ourselves objectively.
This practice allows us to discover
another self who is watching us.
When we recognize that inner observer,
we gain the ability to step back
even in moments of frustration or struggle.

It gives us the strength to look at ourselves
with compassion and offer warm encouragement
to the person who is living with effort.
