Just Listen *As we age, changes are inevitable. One thing that stands out is how the problems we hear about from others seem to become more serious with each passing year. Whether it’s my nature or something I’ve learned, I tend to listen well to others. When someone vents to me, I may not always have a perfect solution, but I do my best to listen sincerely.
From Kim Hoon-jong’s ‘Morning Opening with Analects’ –
There’s a reason we have two ears and one mouth. It means we should listen twice as much as we speak. When someone vents, it’s often not because they want a solution, but because they want to express their frustration. By just listening, they often find their own answers. Like the wise little Momo who lived beneath the amphitheater steps, it’s best to simply listen.
